Moon Trees is a unique game. It’s an adventurous and active team game that uses the latest technology. It’s also the first real-life game in the world that’s played in the forest. An outdoor game for groups, a true real-life adventure.
The aim of the game is for each team to earn as many points as possible during the course of a game. This is done by conquering Moon Trees for your team and taking good care of them. During the game, your team earns resources (water, sun and earth) in the shape of actual coins that are generated by the Moon Trees you’ve conquered for your team. Borag, the main tree, also regularly gives out resource coins for the teams.
So you have to keep a close eye on all your team’s Moon Trees and Borag in order to collect all the resources!
How it works
In the Moon Trees forest there are a total of 21 Moon Trees in 3 levels. Some Moon Trees are easy to find and take care of, others are further away from Borag and require more resources to claim and keep them for your team. The higher the level of the Moon Tree, the more raw materials it will require to claim and keep the tree for your team. But beware! Take good care of your Moon Trees to ensure they are not stolen by another team.
At the end of the game, the points are counted on the basis of the number of Moon Trees your team owns and the duration of that ownership. The team that scores the highest number of points wins the game and the teams’ players become the Moon Trees Heroes.
Playing Moon Trees as a team means you’re being active. Running, climbing, working together and strategic thinking are all aspects of this game. Still, you don’t need to be super-fit to play Moon Trees. It's a game for everyone. By using smart teamwork, every participant can play the game at his or her level.
My role
Within the project it was my responsibility to develop the product from a working prototype to a completely developed product ready to go to market. This involved me redesigning and reevaluating the concept based on the prototype test results. But also working together with hardware developers to create and test the necessary hardware, product designers to develop the look and feel of the game (software and hardware) and clients to create a unique playing field fitting within the available space and using this space optimally to ensure a dynamic and balanced Moon Trees game.
