Comfort Crisis is the third episode in the Professionals trilogy. The Professionals games are designed to educate and enthuse children for the installation industry, focusing primarily on electrical installations, information and communication technology, cooling systems, heating systems and water technology.

Professionals: Comfort Crisis is an educational game in which players take on the role of various professionals from the installation industry. A total of five players form the rescue team that has to repair poorly maintained technical installations in a dilapidated city. 

The game was designed as an addition to the usual technique lessons given in schools. Added to this the students learned about communication and collaboration when working in a team. Shortly after the launch, the game was also adapted as a board game by Netwerk6.

How it works

In this real-time multiplayer puzzle-adventure game kids take on the roles of five tech-heroes. The five team members each have their own role and responsibility. Each role has its own specialization, there is an ICT specialist, a heating expert, an air conditioning expert, an electronics wizard and an expert in water technology. 

The team members need to work together, using their various skill sets in order to help each other and make their way through each level. Meanwhile repairing all the broken installations and removing all the dangerous situations they encounter. The goal is to bring the city back to life, bring back comfort for its inhabitants and at the same time grow from everyday technicians into super-specialists.

My role

During this project I produced the game design documentation, made the interaction design and wireframes for the UI.

Next to this I also developed the level designs for all the levels, built the levels in the &Ranj isometric engine and tested them thoroughly.
